On a dark and cloudy day in Amsterdam, Henri decided to propose to his girlfriend Andrea.

I don’t really get a lot of requests from Dutch people to photograph their proposal. It might be because the Dutch are too down-to-earth and find photos too extravagant. Eeven though I’ve heard stories about elaborately orchestrated proposals which include hot air balloons and treasure hunts, apparently photographing all of this is just way too much :P).

She almost ran away from shock…

But then a few weeks before I met Henri and Andrea, I found myself going through the usual gameplan for a proposal shoot. And when the day of the proposal finally came, Andrea’s reaction was absolutely priceless: she almost ran away from the shock! Don’t worry, she said yes and everything turned out great in the end. But this was just a funny reminder of how Dutch people, bless them, can sometimes be utterly surprised by a bit of romance.
