Throughout this whole wedding, I kept thinking “please like me, please like me, please like me”. I don’t think I’ve ever met this many people that I instantly want to befriend. Usually I’m cautious of what I say, always trying to be poised and graceful (lies, I’m an awkward blob). However on this day, all I wanted to say was “HELLO FRIENDS, PLEASE LINE UP SO THAT WE CAN HOLD HANDS”.
So let’s talk a little bit about the day itself. Simon and Elliot started at their home in the center of Amsterdam. They’re originally from England, so obviously their beloved entourage came over for the big day. Elliot made some breakfast whilst the rest of the party was getting ready in their house. From there it was a taxi ride to Het Rijk van de Keijzer (my favorite wedding venue!) where the rest of the day took place.
Simon planned the entire day to the minute
And it absolutely showed how much love and care went into all the details. He even incorporated their cute French Bulldog, Maggie, into the wedding as a ring bearer. Their amazingly talented friend Alice, from Fleur de Lace, was responsible for all the gorgeous styling and decorations. A heartfelt ceremony filled with tears and beautiful speeches, was followed by S+E reading each other handwritten vows. And as a result I was totally crying behind my camera.
After the ceremony, it was champagne and snacks
Followed by the most fun I’ve had during family formals ever. Dinner followed with some warm and emotional speeches. Henceforth making me bawl like a baby. A short portrait session with the grooms at dusk came just after dinner.
Enter Simon and Elliott, who had their first dance to a romantic song, in the end thoroughly eclipsed by *record scratch* “Yo, I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want So tell me what you want, what you really, really want”. A fecking FLASH MOB epic dance to Spice Girls OH-EMGEE! Followed by confetti and my heart exploded I died right there. End.
Ah Simon and Elliot. I can’t even begin to describe how much these two humans are loved by their friends and family. The entire day was filled with hugs, tears, joy and laughs, and above all, I still can’t believe I was lucky enough to be a part of that. Thank you xxxx
