Here’s a fun little fact: My two favorite seasons are Spring and Autumn. I get all giddy and excited when the leaves start turning all hues of yellow, orange and red. Covering the world in a carpet of bright warmth. The same goes when I start seeing little blossoms sprout from the trees. A sign of new life emerging from an otherwise shit winter.

And if you’re after blossoms, the Cherry Blossom Park in Amstelveen is the place to go. Tucked away in a corner of the forest, this enclosure is absolutely covered in blossoms come spring time. It is also a very fitting setting for this photoshoot, since the cherry blossom not only represents new life, but also the fragility of it.

Blossom and Pine is a small business run by Ilse. If you are in the last phase of your life, and would like to have a send-off with all your friends and family, she can help you organize it. Having a loving and memorable way of saying goodbye is such a beautiful way of thinking about life and death.

Back to the photoshoot – to beat the crowds in the park, we had to get up very early. 6 am to be exact. Luckily the park was still a bit quiet when we got there, so we had a lot of space to move and get a variety of photos.
