Groningen wedding photographer

It was a wet summer morning when I arrived in Groningen, a distant province in the Netherlands. My final destination: the Amshoff, a gorgeous wedding venue in Kiel-Windeweer. Jeroen and Hanne are from Groningen and had decided to celebrate their big and beautiful wedding close to their home.

I arrived a little bit before Hanne, who had her gorgeous hair done at Janet’s Haarstyle. Her mom and best friend was helping her get ready, while I nosed around for the best location to photograph her wedding dress and accessories.

There was a little first look moment with friends and family, and then we did a few relaxed portraits with just the two of them around the venue.

After that, a grand entrance and gorgeous ceremony followed. Their son had the great responsibility of being the ringbearer (and let’s be honest, the whole entrance could not have been any cuter!).

After the ceremony, there was a relaxed atmosphere where guests enjoyed drinks and something sweet. Jeroen & Hanne shunned tradition by going for small pastries made by Hanne’s cousin. Absolute heaven! While guests enjoyed some coffee, tea and pastries, I made informal group shots with family and friends.

I absolutely love how J&H approached the day. When we had our first meeting, they said their day needs to be colorful and fun. But above all, just a big party to celebrate with their loved ones. They completely focused on the people that were there, and you can just see how well loved they are. It really just was a joy to be able to capture this.

As any big wedding should, the day ended with a massive party in the…wait for it…church! J&H danced their first dance to “A whole new world” after which the live band took over and the dancefloor exploded!

Weddings like this make me so happy, because the main focus of the day is always on the people and moments. I was totally in my element here and I really can’t be prouder of how the photos turned out.
