Filmmaking for photographers workshop

I’ve always been a big fan of Hannah Millard (Camera Hannah), and the way she seamlessly combines films and photography during weddings. When I heard that she was giving a workshop in Derby (UK), I signed up immediately!

I just really wanted to learn from this amazing businesswoman and see if it was an option for me to to this with my business as well.

Video just seems like the next logical step up from photography. You can convey much more emotion and little moments through moving images.

The Filmmaking for photographers workshop

Naturally, I was about 45 minutes too early. I took the train from Birmingham to Derby, and decided to walk from the train station and admire the little rows of Victorian houses lining the raod to the town centre. The workshop location, The Cosy Club, already set the scene for an excellent day ahead.

The first half of the day was filled with theory and how to implement video into your business. Which camera, software and accessories to use, to make film and photo easier to capture during a wedding.

The second half we had the opportunity to practice on a live couple! Weddings always have very atmospheric lighting, and it was a great way to practice changing settings in a similar atmospheric environment.

Hannah was always ready with excellent tips and advice, and was really hands-on through the whole shoot. The was also amazing and so incredibly sweet!
